"You're Doomed! You're All Doomed!"

"I'm a messenger of God. You're doomed if you stay here!"

This 40mm scale resin figure of Jason was sculpted by Nikola Stankovic and 3D printed for me by "Encounter Terrain". The miniature's STL (Standard Triangle Language) file is available under the creator Splunjohnny on "Cults" website and was clearly inspired by Sean S. Cunningham's 1980 American slasher film "Friday The 13th".

"Depicted as a non-verbal, indestructible, machete-wielding mass murderer" Voorhees was undercoated with a double helping of "Citadel" Abaddon Black, before having his trousers treated to a combination of "Vallejo" Stormy Blue and "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade. The homicidal maniac's jumper was then pigmented with "Vallejo" Sombre Grey, "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade, and a splash of Carroburg Crimson to suggest it was somewhat blood-soaked from a previous kill.

"Big Mr Tong" WIPs - 3D printed/primed Sardaukar and a Sentry Robot

I tidied up Jason's shirt and boots with a little more "Citadel" Abaddon Black, and applied plenty of "Vallejo" Heavy Brown to his tattered jacket. This garment was later shaded using "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade and dry-brushed with (more) "Vallejo" Heavy Brown. In addition, I gave his machete a lick of "Vallejo" Gunmetal and "Citadel" Nuln Oil.

Ordinarily I would then go back and dry-brush the actual blade with (more) "Vallejo" Gunmetal. However, I wanted to keep the hand-weapon dull-looking, to tie-in with the 'undead' look, so didn't bother on this occasion. Instead I applied some "Vallejo" White to the villain's infamous hockey face-mask, and found myself rather perturbed by how 'chalky' it had become, despite watering it down. As a result, I turned to White Star from "Duncan Rhodes Two Thin Coats" range, and once that had dried, dirtied it up with some "Citadel" Agrax Earthshade.

Finally, I 'picked out' the raised stripes on the sculpt's headwear with some lines of "Vallejo" Heavy Red and a dash of "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson. I also gave the monster's hands, head and neck a layer of "Vallejo" Heavy Skintone and wash of "Citadel" Reikland Fleshshade. I did consider bloodying these areas up a bit with some (more) "Citadel" Carroburg Crimson. But chose to simply leave them be, and stuck with the bare hands even after I spotted plenty of pictures of the silver screen slayer wearing black gloves.

With the start of the Thirteenth Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge now less than a day away, I have spent some considerable time 3D printing, basing and priming more of the 28mm scale figures I hope to pigment during the event. In addition to expanding my collection of Sardaukar troopers by "Big Mr Tong", I have also produced some extra Sentry Robots to help bolster up the automatons bought from "Twisted Pinnacle 3D" (via "Etsy") I painted earlier this year...

Whilst I am fond of your painting on the Jason sculpt, I'm not that fond of it's comic-cartoony style in all honesty. Regardless, he must tower on the tabletop!

Thanks Dai. I appreciate Splunjohnny's style is a bit marmite with some wargamers. I plan to do a BatRep with those minis I've painted up from his range, so you'll see how Jason compares with some of the others then. 😉

Your Jason mini looks very good indeed. I like that sculptor's style enormously.

You seem to have a lot of Big Tong minis prepped for this challenge so I hope you get off to a flying start.

Duncan Rhodes paints seem to be creeping in to your work a lot. Seems like you approve?

Cheers Undercoat. I'm a huge fan of Splunjohnny's style, though I get that some others don't like it as much.

It's Day One of the AHPC and I'm already full-steam ahead with five BMT Cybermen, so expect some WIPs in the next posting. I've got a number of Sardaukar, Cylons, Daleks, Sentry Robots and Sea Devils waiting in the wings. Just need to work my way through them all.

I'm a huge fan of Duncan Rhodes' paints, and the good news is that I'm going to be sent the entire range after Christmas, so expect plenty more coverage in the New Year.

Lovely bit of painting mate, as you know I'm a big Jason fan, along with Michael Myers, Freddie, Chucky, Victor Crowley, basically any horror franchise. 😉

Cheers Roger.

Thanks Roger. I've got a few more horror-based figures to paint, and even more to print, as Splunjohnny has sculpted an absolute ton of them. I'm sure they'll crop up as a result over the coming months. 😉

Nice job on Jason! I've only seen the first movie and it's a great big slab of 80s cheese, but on the other hand it deserves its place in the great horror movies of the 20th century.

I did wonder how long it would take you to print some more of those Black Hole minis LOL!

Cheers Matt. Jason is a corking sculpt, and I'm pleased with how he's turned out - especially as I thought the face mask - his focal point - was going to look a bit blotchy due to the "Vallejo" White. Luckily, Duncan Rhodes' White Star saved the day. 😁

I'm currently penning the rules/statistics for a mass robot campaign game for next year using my homebrew M.I.S.S. rules, and realised that the top tier forces like Daleks and Cybermen who only need ten models, but that the lesser forces, such as the Black Hole Sentry Robots would need more to put up a 'balanced' fight. LOL!!!

I have though got hold of some STLs for Maximillian and VINCENT, so at…

Great work on Jason Simon, in the tenth movie, it get's explained that Jason has the ability to regenerate, which is why he keeps coming back time and again ! LOL

Great bit of prep work in readiness for the challenge.

Yes. I did see a reboot of Hellraiser was coming. I'll probably start with Halloween first and try to work my way from there. I have seen Halloween 3 - which I understand isn't well liked - but is actually a fave horror of mine. LOL!!
