This 34mm tall resin model of Mayhem is produced by "Kitbash Games", and was bought as part of my pledge from their highly successful "Supers Unlimited" Miniatures "Kickstarter" in August 2019. A past his prime wrestler who was "infused with unimaginable might" by the avatar of a trickster god, I actually plan to use the casting as a Third Reich super-villain known as the Berlin Brawler for an upcoming Weird War Two campaign utilising some homemade rules.
Having super-glued the figure onto a 28mm lipped base, I first undercoated Miles Maxwell's alter-ego with a double layer of "Vallejo" Heavy Skintone before shading it in "Citadel" Reikland Fleshshade. I then applied some "Citadel" Abaddon Black to the brute's boots, leather belt and cowl, and delicately dry-brushed his laces with some "Vallejo" Heavy Charcoal.
The former wrestler's toe-caps and spiked belt were given a 'lick' of "Vallejo" Gunmetal and washed with "Citadel" Nuln Oil. I did originally consider just pigmenting the spikes on Mayhem's belt with metallic paint, and leaving the rest as black leather. But in the end decided I rather liked the look of the 'official' plate metal colour scheme.
In order to help tie-in the figure with my Weird War Two setting, I gave his trousers a layer of "Vallejo" German Fieldgrey WWII and shaded them with "Citadel" Biel-Tan Green. Lastly, I picked out the eye-slits in the heavily-muscled maniac's head covering with a couple of lines of "Vallejo" White.
Moving my attention back to reducing the sizeable backlog of "Crooked Dice Game Design Studio" miniatures I currently own, I have finished dry-brushing and shading the predominantly black uniforms of three X-Commandos. I have also managed to both layer and shade their flesh areas, and now just need to highlight their hands and faces before finishing off their insignias and red berets.
In addition, I am within a gnat's whisker of completing the Lincolnshire-based company's Ectoplasmic Entity. This corpulent-sized ghost has been painstakingly treated to numerous layers of "Vallejo" Fluorescent Green over the past few days, and now just needs a little tidying up before being tabletop ready.
Thanks Undercoat. I'm really pleased with how the muscles turned out on Mayhem, and am delighted to say that both Slimer and the X-Commandos are all finished, ready for posting in the near future.
Your super hero is a big boy! Nice work on the skin tone, good job!
Those commandos look really nice, lovely sculpts.
Slimer is looking fabulous, that green is a great choice. Can't wait to see him finished.
Cheers Roger. Mayhem/Berlin Brawler is indeed a big piece of resin, though nowhere near as large as some of the other "Kitbash Games" models I have yet to start working on ;-)
I'm really enjoying the X-Commandos currently, and still can't fathom out why I stopped painting them when I did - perhaps due to my indifference to their original all-black colour scheme..? Anyway, I'm sure you won't be at all surprised to know that not only have I now finished two of them, with the third being close to completion too, but I've re-painted parts of the trooper I pigmented months ago, so her straps etc are the same as these three.
I'm absolutely delighted with how 'Slimer' has…
Lovely work on the "The berlin Brawler" he is a fair old chunk of resin isn't he!
Those Unit troopers are also progressing well, but I think the star of this post has to be "Slimmer", great work there mate!
Cheers Roger.
Thanks very much Dave. I've got a few more "Kitbash Games" models close to completion, so expect a few more to be posted over the next few weeks.
My "Crooked Dice" backlog is slowly clearing, but not as quick as I'd like in relation to their "Lurkers From The Deep" Kickstarter. I'm currently looking at 15 new minis from my current pledge level, with at least a further 4 U.S. Rangers looking likely from the stretch goals. That means I need to get nearly 40 figures finished before they arrive, and currently I have just three ticked off the painting list, LOL!! Still I believe they won't be arriving until May 2021, so I have a couple of months to…
